Rating: 5, I love it!

State:Maine

Age Range: 50-59

Years as a member: 1 Year

% of rounds played at Links Card courses: 100% of the time

Estimated Annual Savings:

Pros: The card gives you savings on rounds and many other things. Hotels, airline tickets, food and beverage as well. What is the best part I believe is, the opportunity to travel and play other courses. It's a great thing for women golfers as well. Nothing wrong with seeing other things, while playing.

Cons: I simply cant find any as it relates to my experiences golfing with the card. Can you use it everywhere no, but you can play courses, that you never would before

Rating: 5, I love it!

State:Vermont

Age Range: 70+

Years as a member: 5 Years

% of rounds played at Links Card courses: 50% of the time

Estimated Annual Savings:

Pros: The BEST part of the Links Card is the ability to play different courses that you may not even think of playing and then when you do play really enjoy the experience. Going to see how different "tracks" are laid out and how the designers developed their concepts is one of the real essences of golf as a sport. You experience all the beauty, frustration, and accomplishment by playing these different courses. Locking you in to one club/course is fine and wonderful but expanding your horizons is so much more enjoyable.

Cons: None-you have nothing to lose as after the first 2-3 rounds it pays for itself and you have enjoyed 2 different courses.

Rating: 3

State:Maine

Age Range: 70+

Years as a member: 4 Years

% of rounds played at Links Card courses: 75% of the time

Estimated Annual Savings:

Pros: Very reasonable rates especially when buying in bulk. There are only a few restrictions, such as play on Mon. thru Thurs. which is not problem for me and my buddies who are mostly all retired. Cards are mailed out in a timely manner. I am always sent a reminder email as the new cards go on sale.

Cons: My buddies and I were very disappointed this year as so many courses are no longer participating in the program. Many of them were some of our favorite courses nearby. I bought 4 cards last Fall which showed these courses as participants, only to find out that they had dropped out. After asking one course Superintendent why he was not participating, he said that The Links Card was "placing too many demands on his business", whatever that meant!!?? We are still using our Card at the remaining courses that participate, but it doesn't seem to be as good a value as it once was!

State:Florida

Age Range: 70+

Years as a member: 14 Years

% of rounds played at Links Card courses: 25% of the time

Estimated Annual Savings:

Pros: We get to play great golf courses at reduced rates, particularly when we travel to our Vermont home in the summer. It also enables us to play different courses at other nearby states during our travels.

Cons: The only cons I can think of is that the times you can use the card are limited. Each course has their own schedules so you need to carefully check before making a tee time.

State:Maine

Age Range: 60-69

Estimated Annual Savings:

Pros: The savings! Golf is expensive. Greens fees and cart rentals add up. The Links Card is a great way to enjoy golf AND save some money. It also allows me the opportunity to experience other courses I might not otherwise try. Using the Links Card is quick, easy, and cost-saving!

Cons: The only con I can see right now is that the number of courses signing on with The Links Card is limited here in Maine. I am hopefully that more will see that joining The Links Card expands their audiences.

- The transactions at the courses are simple - no need to produce coupons or other documents just keep the card in your wallet and show it's at the course.

- done years there have been free subscriptions to Golf Digest included as a benefit

- easy to reach Links card office by phone or email with requests or questions

Cons: Not aware of any cons to the links card except there are a few higher end courses I would love to go to that aren't yet included in the card yet. I do not see that as a true con as the choices do include a number of the higher end courses I would like to play.

State:Massachusetts

Age Range: 70+

Years as a member: 7 Years

% of rounds played at Links Card courses: 25% of the time

Estimated Annual Savings:

Pros: The pros of the Links Card are the reasons that we and our golfing friends in New England purchase the card annually. As listed below, the pros are benefits that we all enjoy no matter where we meet up for golf in New England. This was a great tip that one of our friends passed around to our golfing group years ago. We always check the prices and availability on the Links courses and make our choices from there. We have never been disappointed.

Pros:

-Great courses to choose from

-Carts are included

-No hidden costs

-The staff that honor the Links Card have been most gracious and helpful. Other golf discount cards include courses that the staff impart resentment to "discounts."

-The ability to purchase cards at a discount at certain times of the year.

Cons: The cons are not too many.

Cons:

- No restricted times in most courses

-Would like to see more courses in the Boston area

-Would also like to see the card available in the southwest (Arizona ). Many people winter in warmer states.

Pros: I love getting free carts at the courses, as that seems to be what is most honored on the card. One course we play frequently only offers a percentage discount, but it is not as good as the senior rate, so we don't use it there...unfortunately..

However, two uses with a free cart, pays for itself...

Have talked about the card to everyone we play with, so I am certain more and more friends will join the "club".

Cons: Some courses that are listed as members on the card, do not recognize it when we mention it and check in...that is frustrating, but there have only been few.

I like to play as many different courses as I can.

Cons: I would say the cons to the Links card are that there are fewer courses accepting the use of the card each year so it limits the variety of courses that one can play with the card and get a discount.

Pros: The links card is extremely valuable to me and my playing partners since it allows us to play courses that we would not normally play. It also lets me ride a cart for the longer and/or hilly courses when I normally walk at the local courses where I regularly play. As I get older I even choose courses only because they are links card members and I can ride a cart. It is nice to play different courses without breaking the bank for someone on a fixed income. I also appreciate the access to magazine subscription that keeps me informed of the latest techniques and equipment.

Cons: I wish that all courses were members so I could play them. Some courses we used to play regularly no longer accept the Links Card and our 4-some has decided to not play there because the greens fees and cart fee is way too high than with the Links Card.
